The Photographer

Here is another one! I forgot about all these short stories I did for school… ha
Anyways, enjoy!

David looked at his picture one more time, then went to put the camera in the box. He wanted Nasim to get it as soon as possible so that she would contact him. He paused, about to drop the camera in then decided that he wanted to look at the pictures one more time. He wanted to remind himself what Nasim looked like so he could keep her face in his mind. A small smile spread across his face as he saw her different pictures: her selfies, her cake, and her good luck picture. The smile became a little wider as he saw the first picture of himself. When he had first seen that picture, he knew he had to find her. The mutual attraction was there and he thought it could be more. David continued to scroll through the pictures then hit the menu button, wanting to look at the dates of these pictures, curiosity getting the better of him. He noticed that there were more pictures on the camera than he thought and hesitated before clicking on the very beginning. ‘Well... I already looked at the other ones… I might as well keep going’. David selected the first picture and started the scroll.
The first few pictures were nothing extraordinary, just more selfies and random nature shots. David’s smile started to slip, however, as he saw his face looking back at him. ‘What the hell… I didn’t see this picture before’. David continued scrolling and saw more and more pictures of himself. There was one of him in front of his job at Suncoast bank, and then inside the branch at his desk. There was another one of him with his family during their Christmas dinner. And yet another one of him in the bathroom at the Target right down the street from his house in Culver City. The last one he saw of himself was at law school, studying at one of the tables. This Nasim girl had followed him for a while and had taken pictures of him at every aspect of his life. The smile was wiped completely from his face as this revelation came to light. He dropped the camera and backed away, as if it had turned into a bug and had stung him. David wasn’t sure what to do with what he had just seen. It’s true that he had tried to find where she had lived, but that was mostly to return the camera to her. And if they had hit it off, that would have been even better. But he hadn’t stalked her and this was before he had found out that she was a bit crazy.  Nasim had gone too far, she had stalked him.
David heard a noise and turned around, afraid it was Nasim waiting in the shadows for him. There was no one there but David felt as if one day, she would be there. He had to move and move somewhere she couldn’t find him; he couldn’t go to his parent’s place, she knew where that was. David thought of where he could go and then an idea formed: a hotel. That would be the perfect place to go. She didn’t have any pictures of him at hotels so there was no way she could find him. Looking around the room, David started packing anything that was necessary to live in a hotel: deodorant, shampoo, body wash, iPhone charger, and clothes. He looked around his small apartment again and didn’t think he needed anything else and headed for the door. She could be anywhere and David wanted to be out of his house as soon as possible. He paused when he saw the camera lying on the floor. He didn’t want to touch it but he had to get rid of it, get rid of the evidence. He picked it up by strap, touching as little of it as possible and thought of throwing it into the trash. Before he did, however, using only his fingertips, he scrolled through and deleted all the pictures of him. Once everything was deleted, he threw the camera into the trash, smiling as he heard it crack. There. Now, for sure, she wouldn’t have any more pictures of him. Satisfied, David headed for the door. Looking behind his shoulder to make sure he hadn’t forgotten anything, he didn’t see Nasim standing in the doorway as he opened the door.
“Hello David…”
David screamed, whipping his head around and tried to slam the door in her face. She stopped it before he could, forcing her way into his room. She reached into her bag and he screamed again, waiting for the knife but saw it was a camera. He sighed with relief.
“Now David… Don’t be scared. I have so many more pictures of you to take…” She advanced on him and shoved him until he tripped over his own feet and fell down. She sat on top of him and pulled something else from her bag; this time it was a straight razor.
“I can paint such beautiful pictures with your blood, David… I knew it from the moment I first saw you…” The sound of the camera turning on was the last thing David heard before he fainted from the pain.

Out of the Dark

Wow… I just realized I have not posted in here since last year! Sorry about that! School has been really keeping me busy! But I will try and get my latest short stories posted here soon! Here is one I wrote just a couple of months ago! I enjoy it, so I hope you do too!

Sherry didn’t want to put the book down, even though it was three o’clock in the morning and she had to get up in four hours for school. She was reading The Dark Half by Stephen King and it was scaring the hell out of her. She was only half way through but she didn’t want to stop until she finished it. Sherry stretched, rubbed her eyes and snuggled in a little deeper in her bed. The circle of light from the book light was so bright that it blacked the rest of the room out but Sherry was fine with that. When she read she wanted the whole world to disappear; she wanted to get lost in the words on the pages and join the world of the characters in the books, ignoring the real world around her. Stephen King was her favorite author so when she read his books it was even worse for the outside world. She was so engrossed in this current one that she didn’t hear the scratching noise at first. The scratching continued, as did her reading for a few more minutes until Sherry finally heard the noise. Her head jerked up and the noise stopped. She blinked rapidly, her eyes adjusting to the darkness.
‘What the hell?’ She thought to herself, her heart beating a little faster as she peered into the darkness of her room. She didn’t scare easily, but reading Stephen King always brought fear to the forefront. Sherry squinted, as if that would help her see better in the dark, waiting to hear the noise again. When she didn’t hear it again she returned her focus back to the book. She continued to read the same sentence over and over again, however, as her concentration had waivered. She waited, expecting to hear the noise again at any second. A few minutes later, her wish was granted. Her head snapped in the direction of the noise, but once again it stopped the moment she looked in its direction. She stared into the darkness, waiting for some creature to come out of the darkness and attack her. Her heart was still beating fast and sweat had broken out on her forehead. She sat up a little straighter and then didn’t move; afraid that if she moved it would bring attention to herself, making her a target to whatever or whoever was in her room. She turned off her book light, not wanting a spotlight, albeit a small one, shining on her. She waited in silence a few minutes longer, the room seeming to darken by the second, waiting for something to reach for her. She jumped when a pair of glowing eyes appeared at the foot of the bed. Then she hit herself on her forehead. ‘It’s just the stupid cat… of course it is.’ She gave off a little laugh, looked at the clock and decided that a few hours of sleep were better than none. ‘I should stop reading Stephen King before bed’, were her last thoughts as she drifted off to sleep.
Sherry woke up the next morning thinking only of her book. She couldn’t wait to finish it that night; she knew that she would stay up all night to finish if she had to. So far it was her favorite book of Kings and she had to know how it ended! She wasn’t a very studious person so the only classes she really paid attention in were her favorite classes: the English classes. School was from nine in the morning until four in the evening, almost as long as a workday. It was exhausting but Sherry was so close to graduating that she stuck with it. The whole day she spent daydreaming about her book, her attention wandering in all of her classes. Finally the last class was over! Sherry ran to her car and drove home as fast as she dared. She did not have a life outside of her books and her cat, so she was always eager to get home and start reading again. She had moved away from her family for school and she was such an introvert that she hadn’t really made any friends at school. There were one or two acquaintances but no one that was nearly as interesting as the characters in her books. Twenty minutes later, finally reaching home, Sherry rushed inside, fed her cat and ate an early dinner. She then grabbed her book, some cookies and milk, her favorite blanket, curled up on the couch and lost herself in the world of Thad Beaumont and Stark.
Once ten o’clock hit, Sherry got ready for bed, grabbed her book light and lay down in her bed to finish The Dark Half. She was a hundred pages away from the end and the story was getting really intense. She was so lost in the book and her heart was racing so fast as she read the climax of the story that she let out a little shriek when she heard the scratching noise again. She looked up expecting to see Stark from the book standing at her bed with his straight razor, ready to slit her throat. She then froze, knowing that the scream had given her position away and knowing that she was going to die. She squinted into the darkness, her heart in her throat, threatening to strangle her if it beat any faster. The noise came again, but she could not pinpoint where it was or what it was. She wanted to use the book light to search the room, but was afraid that any movement would attract whatever it was to her. She stared, unblinking, her eyes becoming dry. The darkness pressed down on her, suffocating her, making her think that every shadow was a person. The brightness of the book light made the dark seem so much darker and Sherry was finally afraid of that darkness.
Sherry heard the scratching again and it sounded as if it were moving around her room. Sherry’s eyes moved around frantically, trying to find the moving shape, trying to locate the noise. Slowly, as slowly as she could so that whatever was out there in the darkness didn’t see her move, Sherry scooted down as far as she dared and moved the blankets over her head. Sherry lay for a couple of seconds, a death grip on her book not sure what to do next. Finally, taking a deep breath, she took her book light and shined it around the room. When she saw nothing around her room, she put the light with the book on the floor; there was no way she was going to turn it off but at least it wasn’t a spotlight on her anymore. The book light only gave off a small circle of light on the floor so the rest of the room was once again shrouded in darkness. Sherry looked around then froze. One spot in her room was darker than the rest of the room; so dark it looked as if no light had ever existed in that spot. Her breathing became heavier as she tried to discern the shape of that dark spot. Was it human, animal, or something else? Sherry couldn’t tell and at this point she didn’t think it was her imagination. Her fear was to real, that spot too dark. Slowly pulling her blanket over her head, Sherry stopped moving knowing it was too late and that the thing in the darkness had seen her. Maybe her blanket would protect her. Sherry lay under her blanket, unmoving, taking shallow breaths and making no noise. Hearing nothing, she worked up a little nerve and peeked at the floor. Her breath halted as a shadow fell across the light, stopping in it’s beam. Sherry still couldn’t tell what it was that was tormenting her and tears started to roll down her cheeks. She felt close to passing out, her heart beating faster and her breath getting harder and harder to get out. Sherry opened her mouth to scream but nothing came out as the light was clicked off.
Sherry went back under the covers, the blankets completely covering her. She lay in the darkness, not sure what to do, the tears still running down her cheeks. Her breathing came faster and faster as she waited for something to happen; for either her heart to explode, for her to suffocate, or for something or someone to grab her. Once again, she felt the darkness pressing down on her, smothering her, threatening to end her life. The blankets felt stifling and she knew she was going to choke on them if she didn’t get out from under them soon. Sherry heard another scratching noise and a meow and started to relax. ‘OK… it is just the cat. I am going crazy. I should really stop reading Stephen King at night…’ As those thoughts passed through her head, Sherry started struggling with the heavy comforter, trying to get it off of her. She then heard a howl and then something started to scratch at her right leg. Ignoring the howl, Sherry started talking to herself, trying to calm herself down. ‘The howl was… it was nothing. It’s just the cat… no big deal… nothing else…’ Sherry swallowed, took a deep breath and dared a glimpse under the covers. What she saw wiped her mind of anything else but fear. There were no more thoughts, just the white noise of a terror filled scream. Looking back at her had just been two bright eyes and a large smile filled with teeth. She started shrieking at the beat of each breath, kicking her feet, all senses lost as she tried to fight whatever it was that belonged to that smile. Sherry shrieked and shrieked until she was out of breath and her eyes rolled to the back of her head. She finally passed out, the last thing in her vision being the vile face.

The only sounds that could be heard in the darkness were chomping, slurping and sucking noises. Eventually the sounds ceased and the darkness pressed in. The last thing that could be heard was the scratching of the cat; all he wanted was to be inside so that he could see his master.

Oblivion

So one of my best friends, Mackenzie, and I wrote this a really long time ago. It used to be 25 pages and I had to wheedle it down to 15 pages for my script writing class. I think I did a pretty good job, if I do say so myself, though I like the original even more! Anyways, I really like this screenplay, so I hope you guys enjoy it too! Thanks again, Mackenzie, for letting me use it for class and for letting me post it on here!

Sorry the format is all weird… I had to copy and paste so it came out strange..

INT. JUDITH'S HOUSE - WEST VIRGINIA - DAY

JUDITH THEOS is young and plain looking; short brown hair, blue eyes, nothing really stands out about her. But she has just applied to a school in LA and is anxiously waiting for the reply. She finally gets a letter from the school and using a sharp letter opener, opens it as soon as she recieves it. Judith's eyes get bigger and bigger as she reads the letter then she let's out a scream when she reaches the bottom. She is jumping up and down so much that it is hard for her to grab her cell phone to call her UNCLE ALASTOR (UNCLE AL).

JUDITH

Hey it's me, Judith. Guess what? I got accepted! I'm going to L.A.!

INT. JUDITH'S BEDROOM - day

UNCLE ALASTOR has been around Judith her whole life. She calls him Uncle Al and he helped raise her after her parents had died. Judith and Uncle Al are packing her things into boxes when the doorbell rings.

UNCLE AL

That must be the pizza, I'll go grab it.

Uncle Al pauses at the bedroom door and glances at Judith.

UNCLE ALL

You know, I'm really proud of you JuJu.

JUDITH

Thanks Uncle Al. Wow you haven't called me that since I was probably 10!

Uncle Al smiles as he leaves the room and Judith pulls down a dusty box from a closet labeled "Family Stuff". She begins to rifle through it.

JUDITH

Ugh, so much old junk.

Judith starts tossing items from the box into a trash can, mostly old family pictures. She finds an old VHS tape labeled "Judith Age 7". Puzzled, she finds her old TV with the VHS, puts the tape in and presses play. Her younger voice can be heard on the video, hysterically crying and asking a man in the background to stop. The man appears to be naked. Alarmed, visibly shaking, Judith immediately ejects the video.

JUDITH

Oh my god! What the hell is this?

INT. JUDITH'S HOUSE - KITCHEN

JUDITH

What the hell did I just watch?

Judith slams the tape onto the counter.

UNCLE AL

What?

JUDITH

I just found this disgusting thing in a box of old stuff!

UNCLE AL

JuJu, just calm down. What's on the tape?

JUDITH

I am on the tape, crying for help as a man who looks a hell of a lot like you is about to molest me.

UNCLE AL

(to Judith)

Look, it isn't what you think! I don't know how that tape got put into that box... (to himself) I thought the police...

JUDITH

What the fuck are you talking about, the police? What the fuck is this tape? You are disgusting! I'm your goddamn niece!

UNCLE AL

Calm down JuJu! Let me try and explain!

Uncle Al walks towards Judith, meaning to comfort her. Judith is overcome by her emotions and shoves Al away from her.

JUDITH

(whispering)

How could you do this to me... I trusted you...

Uncle Al stumbles backward slips on the kitchen floor and hits his head on the corner of the counter. He slumps to the floor and a puddle of blood begins to form around his head as he sputters, about to lose consciousness. Judith falls to the floor near him.

JUDITH

OH GOD! Oh my god... oh my god... Al!

Uncle Al doesn't respond. Judith gently pushes on his shoulder. He groans softly.

JUDITH

ALASTOR! Please get up! Please don't be hurt! AL!

Judith wrings her hands and begins to cry. Uncle Al groans again and attempts to speak to her with whatever strength he has left.

UNCLE AL

(with scorn)

Not...me...

EXT. CEMETARY - WEST VIRGINIA - DAY - 1 YEAR LATER

Judith is kneeling at Uncle Al's gravestone, placing a bouquet of flowers on the dirt. Tears are running down her face.

JUDITH

I'm sorry this is my first visit. They took me after...what happened. I just couldn't handle what I had done to you, even if it was an accident. I just got released yesterday and I'm finally going to L.A. to start my doctorate. I just wanted to say goodbye. If you can hear me, I'm sorry for what I did to you. I found out that it wasn't you on the tape.

Judith turns around to leave then pauses, looking back at the grave.

JUDITH

I hope you can forgive me, wherever you are.

EXT. MRS. ACHERON'S HOUSE - LOS ANGELES - DAY

Judith is carrying a moving box and ringing the doorbell of an old house. MRS. ACHERON, the very old woman who owns the house, is a grumpy woman who hardly talks. Judith does not like spending time with her, but it is a cheap place to rent so she can go to school. Mrs. Acheron answers and peers at Judith through a small crack in the door.

JUDITH

Hi, Mrs. Acheron? I'm Judith Theos, I spoke with you on the phone? I'm renting out your spare room?

Mrs. Acheron grunts and opens the door to let Judith in.

CUT TO:

INT. JUDITH'S BEDROOM - Early morning

Judith is clearly asleep but is thrashing around, fighting something in her dreams. She is startled awake by something and she sees a young man is standing in her room, staring at her. Judith gasps and quickly flips on the bedroom light. When she glances back to where the man was standing, he is gone. She stares at the spot for another minute, takes some sleeping pills and attempts to fall back asleep.

CUT TO:

INT. JUDITH'S BEDROOM - the next NIGHT

Judith tosses and turns in bed, feeling tormented by the sound of a crying baby, not knowing where it is coming from. Frustrated, she flips on the light and immediately notices the same young man in her room. Once she sees him, the crying stops.

JUDITH

(Clutching her blankets as if they might protect her from this stranger)

Who are you? How did you get in my room?

LUTHER

I noticed you couldn't sleep and I came to help. If you notice, the crying has now stopped. You're welcome.

JUDITH

What? (Pauses) Yeah, I don't hear it anymore. How did you do that?

LUTHER

It's not important, I've got my ways.

LUTHER seems to be a figment of Judith's imagination from the stress of moving to a new city and living in a house she doesn't really want to live in. Judith talks to him as if in a dream. She watches, her eyes out of focus, as he walks to her and draps a jacket around her shoulders.

LUTHER

It seems like you're having a rough time adjusting to life in the big city. You know, I found myself in a place once where I never expected to be. It can be a rough transition; but you will discover that life is funny that way. It brings us to places that perhaps we would never have gone otherwise without a little... push.

JUDITH

What the hell are you talking about? And how did you get in my room? You are not real... I'm just having a dream and I'm going to wake up tomorrow and you will be gone.

Shaking, Judith reaches for her sleeping pills and pops several of them into her mouth. She lies back down trying not to touch the jacket he had put on her and squeezes her eyes shut.

JUDITH

I know you aren't real. Please go away.

INT - JUDITH'S BEDROOM - the next NIGHT

Judith is sitting at her desk studying out of a large textbook, looking bored. There is a candle burning on the corner of the desk. There is a tumbler filled with partially melted ice and tequila; Judith pours the rest of the tequila into the tumbler and throws the bottle away into a trash can next to her desk. She opens her laptop and pulls up her Facebook page. No one has written anything on her page.

JUDITH

Why did I think I could move out here? I'm not ready for this, I can't do this all alone!

Judith gestures with the tumbler, spilling the alcohol all over her bed.

JUDITH

Oh shit! Just what I need...

Suddenly, the window is thrown open and a huge gust of wind blows through the room, knocking the candle off the desk, which lands on the alcohol soaked sheets; they immediately burst into flames.

JUDITH

Oh shit oh shit oh shit! OH GOD! What do I do?

Judith scrambles toward the end of the bed where the sheets still lie rumpled from the previous evening. She gathers them quickly so they won't also catch fire, discovering the jacket tangled within them. Judith's eyes become huge and she flings the jacket onto the flames in an attempt to get it away from her and perhaps put the fire out at the same time. The fire only gets worse, eating the jacket as if it were paper. She turns to run away and runs into Luther.

LUTHER

Hi Judith. Me, Luther again. Need some help?

JUDITH

Oh! Yes! Please! I don't know what to do!

LUTHER

Tell me that you believe I'm real.

JUDITH

(incredulously)

What?

LUTHER

I'm here to help you, but I need you to believe that I'm real.

JUDITH

Ok, ok! You're real, I believe you! Please help! Just do something!

Luther smiles at Judith and all of a sudden the sound of the fire is gone. Judith turns around and the fire has been extinguished. The bed looks as though nothing happened, the sheets and jacket don't have any burn marks. The candle and the tequila tumbler are back on the desk where they were before they were spilled and the window is closed.

JUDITH

What is going on? How did you do that? Everything was on fire a second ago... what the fuck is going on?

LUTHER

Judith, please listen to me. You just have to trust me. I'm here to help you. You can't spend all of your time alone in your room, staring at your Facebook and looking at friends you don't even have.

Judith looks away.

LUTHER

You have to get through this rut you're in so that you can move on with your life. Al sent me to help you overcome your guilt.

Judith begins to cry softly.

Judith

Why? I deserve this, all of this guilt. I killed him! I shouldn't have been released. I don't deserve to be happy.

Luther gestures to Judith so that he can hug her. She reluctantly steps toward him and he embraces her. She softens and returns the friendly embrace, feeling comforted.

LUTHER

Everyone deserves a little happiness. It's time for you to let go of this life of guilt and shame. Now, why don't you lie down and get some rest...

JUDITH

Wait, you're leaving? Do you have to go so soon? Please stay and talk, tell me about my uncle. Please!

LUTHER

I'll be back soon. It is time for you to sleep. And for the record, it probably isn't a good idea to mix tequila and candles.

Luther laughs but Judith just chuckles. He leads her to the bed and he tucks her in as though she were a child. Judith exhales deeply as she immediately falls asleep without taking any pills.

INT. JUDITH'S BEDROOM - a week later - night

Judith is studying at her desk, a large textbook open in front of her. She constantly checks her clock and Luther's spot, eager for him to appear. He has every night for a week now and she enjoys his visits. Later, now in pajamas, she lies down to go to sleep, disappointed that he hadn't appeared. She closes her eyes for a brief second and when she opens them again, Luther is standing in his usual spot. Judith's face breaks into a big smile.

LUTHER

I think it's time we get you out of here. I think you are ready to rejoin the land of the living.

The smile fades from Judith's face.

JUDITH

Ugh, why? What is so great about them? I prefer being in here with you. You're the only one who makes me feel alive anyway.

LUTHER

Don't say that. C'mon, you moved to LA a month ago and you haven't seen or done anything remotely Hollywood.

JUDITH

That's because I'm not remotely Hollywood.

LUTHER

"Tip the world over on its side, and everything loose will land in Los Angeles". Frank Lloyd Wright said that.

JUDITH

Well that's perfect then, I certainly have something loose and that's why I landed here.

LUTHER

(Pauses) Meet me at the Griffith Observatory in an hour. I'll meet you in the parking lot. I'm going to prove to you that you are ready to move beyond everything you've been through.

JUDITH

(she closes her eyes in frustration) No, Luther, I'm not ready.

Judith opens her eyes and he has vanished. She glances around nervously.

JUDITH (CONT'D)

Dammit, Luther! I can't do this, I just can't! Do you hear me? Come back here!

Judith sits back, waiting for Luther to reappear, looking agitated. Clearly, Luther is not going to reappear. Judith snatches her clothes out of the closet and yanks them on, muttering to herself. She quickly brushes her hair, grabs her keys and leaves, slamming the door on her way out.

EXT.- int. JUDITH'S CAR - NIGHT

Judith sits in her car, her hands wringing together. She constantly checks her clock, watching each minute pass by. After an hour, Luther is still not there. She slowly gets out of her car and looks around, trying to stay quiet.

JUDITH

(loud whisper)

Luther! This isn't funny! I don't want to be here!

She looks around again and notices the doors to the observatory are slightly ajar. She doesn't know what else to do, so she starts walking towards the doors.

JUDITH

(loud whisper)

Luther! Seriously, where are you?!!

She gets to the doors and throws them open...

CUT TO:

INT. JUDITH'S KITCHEN - WEST VIRGINA

As Judith steps through the doors, calling Luther's name, she trips and falls into the kitchen of her old house in West Virginia. In front of her, she sees herself and Uncle Al having the argument they had prior to Uncle Al's death. Judith scoots back, scrambling to get her feet under her so she can escape.

JUDITH

No, no, no, no, no! This isn't happening! Luther?! Please, help me!

Judith starts sobbing, rocking back and forth, covering her ears as she tries to block out the sound of the fight and Uncle Al's final words.

UNCLE AL (o.s)

Not... me...

JUDITH

No! Uncle Al, I'm so sorry.

Judith begins to rock back and forth on the floor.

judith

I know, I know now it wasn't you. I never meant to...

Judith continues to sob hysterically on the floor. She hears a different noise coming from the kitchen and glances up. Her eyes widen in shock as Luther gets up from where Uncle Al was laying, with the same head injury and blood covering one side of his face. He stalks toward her as she cowers on the floor beneath him.

JUDITH

Luther? What's happening?

LUTHER

Your apologies are too late, Judith.

JUDITH

What? Luther... what are you talking about? I never meant to, he just...fell, and it happened! I thought you were my friend? Why are you doing this to me?

LUTHER

Do you know what it feels like, JuJu, to die knowing that the person you loved the most in life, betrayed you in death?

JUDITH

But, Luther, it was an accident! I'm...

Judith stops crying and looks up at Luther.

JUDITH

..sorry? Did you just call me JuJu?

Luther grabs Judith and Judith experiences a flashback to a photograph that she threw away when packing up her old house in West Virginia. It was a photograph of her Dad with a friend from high school, wearing a jacket, a jacket that Judith now recognizes. What she thought was her Dad's friend looks exactly like Luther. Judith realizes that Luther is the younger Uncle Al. Her dad had been posing with his brother in that photograph. Judith returns her attention to the present and finds Luther standing over her.

JUDITH

UNCLE AL?!

Uncle Al shoves Judith away from him.

UNCLE AL

You murdered me. I saved you from my deranged brother who got his kicks out of raping you. How do you think it feels to be killed by the only person you love?

JUDITH

I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I never meant to! Please listen to me!

UNCLE AL

Maybe I could forgive you for the push. After all, accidents happen. But you didn't stop there, did you, JuJu?

Judith suddenly stops her pleading and quickly glances up at Uncle Al, looking stunned. Uncle Al grabs her hair, yanking her head back.

UNCLE AL

Look, Judith! Look at what you did to me!

CUT TO:

int. judith's kitchen- west virginia- the past- day

Judith flashes back to when she had pushed her Uncle. She is sobbing on the floor next to his dead body. She looks around the kitchen, not sure what to do next. She reaches for the phone to call the police but notices the acceptance letter from the University. Suddenly, she panics and drags Al's body through the house into the garage, frantically searching for something she can use. She finally spots an electric hand saw and uses it to cleave her uncle's body, blood splashes bright red on her clothes but she doesn't seem to notice. Later, Judith, covered in blood, wraps up multiple garbage bags and tosses them into the trunk of her car. She goes inside the house, leaving a trail of blood on the floor, as though in a trance. She grabs her keys, wallet, and goes back to her car. She drives away from the house.

CUT TO:

INT. JUDITH'S KITCHEN - WEST VIRGINA- present day- night

UNCLE AL

I felt everything! The pain as you chopped my body up into tiny pieces; the suffocating darkness of the bags; the frigid icy water as it engulfed me; even the nibbles of the fish as they ate me, bit by bit.

JUDITH

STOP! STOP! I can't take this anymore! Please stop!

UNCLE AL

But they found you, didn't they? And they took you...

Uncle Al gently strokes Judith's hair, as though he has calmed down and forgiven her. Judith has another flashback, this time to an ominous looking building. She walks toward it, handcuffs on, being led inside by a policeman. The sign next to the building says "E. Venger Asylum for the Criminally Insane". Uncle Al stops stroking her hair.

JUDITH

(starting to calm down)

Please don't make me go back there. You won't make me go back, right?

UNCLE AL

What makes you think you ever left? Do you remember anything prior to arriving at your dear old landlady's house? How did you get to LA, Judith?

JUDITH

I...I...

UNCLE AL

Why would they let you out? You murdered me, dismembered me, and tried to cover it up by tossing the pieces of my body into the river! You lost your fucking mind JuJu!

JUDITH

But... I'm fine! I didn't lose my mind! I just panicked! People panick! I had to live my life! I had just been accepted into the best school in the country! I couldn't let the accident stop me!

UNCLE AL

But it did stop you.

CUT TO:

INT. e. venger asylum - the past - night

Judith sits on a hospital bed, talking to a doctor.

JUDITH

I'm sorry this is my first visit. They took me after... what happened...

The doctor writes notes as Judith continues her speech. She thinks she is speaking to Al's grave, but in reality the scene only plays in her head.

JUDITH

(once again speaking to a doctor)

Hi, Mrs. Acheron? I'm Judith Theos...

CUT TO:

INT. JUDITH'S KITCHEN - WEST VIRGINA- PRESENT day- NIGHT

JUDITH

No... that can't be. I... I got out... I remember leaving! I remember being discharged! I remember the grave... and I met Mrs. Acheron... I met her!

UNCLE AL

You are wrong, Judith... you never paid for your sins. I was sent to hell because of my hatred over what you did to me. But I escaped and was rewarded with an opportunity: you will take my place in Hades; a saint for a sinner.

Judith cowers in the corner, covering her face waiting for Al to come for her, but nothing happens. She slowly gets up to leave then something slams into her, turning her world black.

CUT TO:

INT. E. VENGER ASYLUM - PRESENT DAY - NIGHT

Judith wakes with a loud gasping noise. She looks around, expecting Al to be standing over her. All is quiet but she can't quite shake the feeling that someone is watching her.

JUDITH

It was just a dream... that's all... I have been in here for so long I am starting to hallucinate...

All of a sudden Uncle Al appears behind her and wraps his arms around her.

UNCLE AL

It wasn't a dream JuJu... I am here to take you to your oblivion.

Uncle Al drags her to hell to take his place, his laughter mingling with her screams.

int. - Valencia's basement- day

JASPER is chained up to a wall in VALENCIA'S basement. Both of the are beautiful, almost too beautiful to look at. Valencia is holding a bowl with a liquid inside, it is hard to tell what the liquid is. Jasper is facing Valencia, eyeing the bowl wearily.

JASPER

(calmly)

What am I doing here? I have done nothing to you and I demand to be released. You had no right to take me from my home.

VALENCIA

Right? Ha! I have every right after what you did to my family.

JASPER

Your family? What do I care about you or your family? Get me out of here before I just break free and kill you.

VALENCIA

Oh no you won't be doing that. You see, you haven't eaten in a little over eight hours. Which means that you don't have the strength to break free from those chains. Do you think I would bring you in here without making sure I could handle you first?

Valencia holds up the bowl, the light glinting off the dark metal of the bowl. Jasper knows what is inside the bowl but refuses to acknowledge the fact. He crosses his arms over his chest in defiance and glares at Valencia.

Valencia

I have what you want inside this bowl. And I will give it to you. Just ask me for my forgiveness and for my family's forgiveness.

jasper

(glaring at Valencia, slowly turns his back on her)

I will do no such thing. I did nothing to deserve this and I will kill you after this petty game of yours is over.

VALENCIA

(growls at him)

Petty game? You will be the one who will die. Maybe not today, but after I have broken you, be certain that you will die.

Valencia takes out a brush of sorts, dips it into the liquid and starts sprinkling Jasper with the liquid. She can see Jasper cringe every time a sprinkle hits him, but he remains standing with his back to her.

JASPER

(Turns back around)

You think that you will break me? I am stronger than you and I have lived longer than you. I have dealt with torture you can't even imagine. I will outlast you.

VALENCIA

(smirking)

We will see who outlasts who.

She sprinkles a little more liquid at him as she leaves the room, looking just a little disappointed.

int. - valencia's basement- night

It has been 8 hours since Valencia was in her basement last and finally she returns, still holding the bowl, hoping to see Jasper begging for mercy. Jasper, however, is still standing with his arms folded, looking at her defiantly.

JASPER

I told you that I am stronger than you and that I will outlast you.

Valencia hisses at him, light glinting off her fangs. She throws the whole bowl of liquid at him, the light now glinting off the liquid to show it's deep red color. It splashes on Jasper's face, running down to look like bloody tears. Jasper uses whatever willpower he has left to not lick his face. Valencia sees his discomfort and smiles. She already knows that she is winning.

VALENCIA

Once again, we will see who outlasts who...

Valencia once again leaves.

INT. - VALENCIA'S BASEMENT- day

Valencia lets another eight hours go by before she heads back to her basement, carrying yet another bowl of the blood. Jasper is on his knees and he seems to be cleaning himself like a cat; he brings his hands up, wipes his face then licks the blood off of his hands. He is getting frustrated because it is not enough and he hasn't eaten in almost two days.

VALENCIA

(smiling widely, her fangs looking longer than ever)

That is what I thought. I knew that I could break you. Everyone needs to eat and it has been a long time since you have had a full meal. I have what you need right here. You need it to live past this day and you will do what I say if you want it.

Jasper doesn't respond, just continues to lick up as much of the blood as he can. Valencia sets the bowl on the ground, just out of Jasper's reach. Jasper sniffs the air, smelling the bowl of blood. He moves slowly toward it, his body weak. He just needs however much is in that bowl and he can break free and kill her. He gets almost within reach and then his chains stop him. He starts to snarl, his lips pulled back to reveal his fangs. Valencia laughs as Jasper shakes his chains and strains against them, trying with all his might to get to the bowl. If he had all his strength, he would have been able to break the chains, but he is too weak.

VALENCIA

You didn't apologize or ask for forgiveness. For that you will suffer. You will never get what you need again and I will see you die here in my basement. This is what I can do for my family.

Valencia kicks the bowl away from him, the blood hitting the ground and drying almost immediately. She leaves the room laughing as Jasper howls desperately; all he wants to do is eat.

INT. - VALENCIA'S BASEMENT- Day

Valencia comes back after another eight hours. Jasper is on his back, lying on the ground, panting. His skin is even more pale than it normally is and his body looks like just a husk of what a body should look like. All of his bones are showing through his skin and his lips are peeled back in a permanent snarl; the hunger is finally killing him. He is barely strong enough to look at Valencia when she enters.

VALENCIA

Who knew torture could be this fun? I had what you wanted all along and you couldn't just confess and ask for forgiveness. That was all I wanted.

Jasper is so hungry that he has no response for her. He rolls on his stomach and starts licking the dried blood off the ground, desperately trying to get sustenance of any kind. Valencia lets out another laugh and Jasper rolls his head to look at her. All that can be seen are the whites of his eyes.

VALENCIA

(holding a new bowl)

Well I suppose I can't let you go without a last meal, can I?

She holds the bowl over him, dips her hand into it and let's one single drop fall on his lips. Jasper groans in pleasure at the freshness of the blood as it enters his throat. She then drinks the rest of the blood in front of him, throwing the bowl behind her when she is done.

VALENCIA

(licking her lips)

That was good. Nice and fresh from a human that was just killed.

Valencia laughs at Jasper as he groans, this time in pain. His face is still turned towards her as he tries his hardest to ask the question that has yet to be answered.

JASPER

(barely audible whisper)

... why... what did I...

VALENCIA

(kicks him in the stomach)

Just a name... Shae Remy... She was my sister...

Jasper's eyes widen just a little bit as he has seconds to register this before Valencia reaches down and tears his heart out. She looks at the heart for a beat before it dies completely then devours it, enjoying the taste of her enemy. She then goes to the door, which opens on a bunch of eagerly waiting pale faces.

VALENCIA

Do what you want with him. Just don't leave a mess.

Rebecca

I know this is supposed to be for my short stories, but for school this term we were writing screenplays, so I thought I would post them here too! =) Enjoy!

DAVID'S girlfriend, REBECCA, has just broken up with him and he is completely distraught over it. He doesn't know what to do with his life anymore and just wants to pain to end. Rebecca had been his everything and now what was there? He has spent many hours hiding in his room, crying over old pictures of them. Tonight he wanted to see her again and he talked SEAN, his best friend, into going with him. SEAN is trying to help him get over it and knows just the thing. He doesn't want David to stop his life because of this girl and he knows how to help him. They are hiding behind a dumpster on the campus. Sean hands David a gun.

DAVID

What the hell is this? What am I going to do with this? I can't use this...

SEAN

I got it for you when I saw how upset you were over this bitch. You can use it, it will make things all better. Just trust me...

David reluctantly takes the gun from Sean and stares at it.

DAVID

I... I just don't know... I just want the pain to end...

SEAN

And this is how that is going to happen... like I said, just trust me. I know this feeling and it is a great one... It is just... it is just the best!

DAVID

You... know this feeling? What the hell Sean? What do you mean you know this feeling? What are you even talking about? How would you know what this feels like?

SEAN

Would I steer you wrong? Can you just trust me? It is just better than anything and I have been getting away with it so far and I have been waiting to get you involved...

David looks at Sean with wide eyes, trying to decipher what he was just told. Sean looks at him knowingly with a huge smile on his face. David looks at him a moment longer then shakes his head as if he has come to a decision. He can only handle one thing at a time and right now he needs to deal with the task at hand.

DAVID

I just.. Don't even know... I will worry about you later. I need to figure out what to do now...

SYRACUSE COLLEGE CAMPUS- NIGHT

REBECCA is beautiful with long brown hair and bright green eyes. She is very successful in college and is ready to start her career. Her cell phone rings and it is her current boyfriend. They start talking over the cell phone.

CUT TO-

SYRACUSE COLLEGE CAMPUS- behind a dumpster- NIGHT

Sean has just spotted Rebecca talking on her phone.

SEAN

Oh. So this is why we were hiding here.

DAVID

I told you it was because of Rebecca.

SEAN

Well yeah, hence the gun. It's not like I know her schedule though, so I didn't know you were planning on stalking her tonight.

DAVID

(All said while stroking the gun)

Not stalking... just... watching...

As Rebecca comes closer, David's grip on the gun gets tighter and tighter. David hears Rebecca tell the person on the phone that she loves them and this seems to make his decision for him. His grip on the gun tightens and his heart starts beating faster. He hides the gun under his arm so she won't see it and steps out from behind the dumpster. Rebecca lets out a little scream when she sees him and takes an involuntary step back. Her hand goes to her throat and David can hear her breath speed up.

REBECCA

David! What the hell are you doing here? You need to stop following me!

DAVID

I am not following you.

REBECCA

YWhatever David. Just leave me the hell alone. I am done with you, I told you. And I am with someone else now...

David's shoulders slump at these last words and his whole body seems to shrink. Rebecca notices tears running down his face and for a moment feels some sympathy. Then David pulls the gun from under his arm and points it at Rebecca's face. She takes another step back but then squares her shoulders and stands her ground.

REBECCA

Really, David? And what are you going to do with that? You are just so ridiculous. This is why I broke up with you. You are never going to--

The words die on her lips with her as a bullet wound appears on her forehead. Sean lets out a cheer and grabs David before Rebecca has even slumped to the ground. David's eyes have gone wide and his mouth has formed an "o" shape. Sean struggles to make him run, to get out of there before they get caught. Finally David shakes himself, seems to wake up and they run to the car.

INT. SEAN AND DAVID'S HOUSE- NIGHT

Once home, Sean shakes David's hand and slaps him on the back.

SEAN

Amazing my friend. Just amazing! I knew you had it in you. That bitch deserved it! In the morning, I am going to make you a huge breakfast then let you in on what I have been up to these past few nights! You are going to love it!

David says nothing and they head to their seperate rooms, Sean a bit dissapointed by the fact that David doesn't seem more excited.

Int. David's room

David is tossing and turning and talking to himself.

DAVID

Why did I do that? Now I will never see her again. I could have won her back. Rebecca... I miss you so much.

A sob escapes David's lips as he just repeats her name over and over again. He rocks back and forth on his bed moaning in between saying her name, his fist clenching and unclenching the gun, not even realizing that he still has the gun. David falls into a fitfull sleep and he tosses back and forth for an hour. He jerks awake with Rebecca's name on his lips and looks down at his hand, finally realizing that he still has the gun. He stares at it a moment longer then makes up his mind what he wants to do with it. He goes back to sleep a little easier, this time with a different name on his lips.

DAVID

Sean...

INT. Sean and David's kitchen- morning

Sean enters the kitchen with a huge smile on his face, practically bouncing, ready to tell David his secret. He spots David sitting at the table, the gun in his hand. The smile falls off of Sean's face, but he tries to act like he hadn't seen the gun.

SEAN

Hey... David... What a great night, huh? Ready for that breakfast I promised you? David? Da--

DAVID

(in a whisper)

How could you? How could you make me... this is all your fault... I will never see her again and it is all your fault... I could've fought for her... but no... Sean must always have his way...

SEAN

Woah buddy. I didn't pull the trigger for you. You did that on your own. I just showed you the way, but you did the--

DAVID

(shouting)

You did this to me! You did this to her! I never should have listened to you! How could you...

Sean's heart starts beating faster and he puts his hands up as if to block the words that David is saying to him. David slowly raises the gun and aims it at Sean's head. Sean starts to back up, now using his hands as a shield against the gun. He is starting to sweat and his heart is in his throat; he can no longer talk to defend himself. David releases the trigger and shoots Sean in the same place he had shot Rebecca the night before.

DAVID

I am so sorry Rebecca... I never should have listened to him...

A final shot rings out.

another short story

I had this idea a long time ago and finally had an excuse to write it out.. I just could never think beyond the initial idea, so I am glad my creative writing class gave me the excuse and I was able to come up with an idea! So here we go!

Ordinary Humans
Harry and Sally Scoffield are ordinary humans. They live ordinary lives in an ordinary house and have an ordinary son. No one really thinks much of them, except maybe that they are a little on the boring side, but that is exactly what Harry and Sally want. They don’t like to draw attention to themselves and make as few friends as possible, the fewer friends, the fewer casualties. They have no desire for casualties, though they are inevitable most of the time.  Today was the day it was finally going to happen. They have been on their particular block for six years now, studying, planning, and learning everything about their neighbors, down to how many cups of coffee they have each day. It is tedious work, but it would bring them glory in the end, and that was all that mattered. They both only cared about the glory, the fame this would bring to their people. Finally, they would have a voice as well.
Harry gets home from work, sees Sally reading at the table and gives her a knowing smile when she looks up. “Shower first?”
Sally smirks. “Obviously… you don’t want to get this done looking like this, do you?” She gestures to herself and Harry laughs.
“No I suppose I don’t…” Harry walks up to their second floor with Sally following behind. Sally sits down on the bed, “I will let you enjoy it first.” She watches as he walks into the bathroom and turns the water on, as hot as it can go, and the bathroom steams up almost immediately. Sally returns to her book, not saying anything as he enters the shower fully clothed.
In the shower, Harry lets out a sigh of relief as the hot water soaks through his clothes. Sally hears him say the word, “Finally…” and she smiles to herself. She can’t wait for her turn. Harry has now been in the hot water for ten minutes and seams start to appear along his skin. Once they appear, Harry starts tugging at his skin, stretching it, making the seams widen. Underneath a blue glow starts to shine through. Harry pulls desperately at the seams, as the skin starts to sag. Finally the human skin is loose enough that Harry starts stripping it off, revealing a bright blue translucent skin underneath. He is frantic to get the human skin off, not wanting to feel it anymore and at last; the whole thing comes off like a body suit. Harry lets the water soak into his blue skin for another few minutes then turns off the water. He shakes out the human body suit and hangs it up to dry.
Sally sees that he is done and goes into the bathroom herself; repeating the same process he just went through. Her skin has a slightly purple tint to it, but it is much brighter than Harry’s; something she has always been proud of. Once Sally is out and has hung up her human skin, she and Harry look at each other in their natural skin and smile with what they have that passes for a mouth. Their faces can only be described as inhuman; though the shape of their head is like a human’s (they have to fit into the body suits after all) they don’t have lips, just rows of sharp teeth that make up a mouth. Where a nose should be, there is just a smooth surface (they do not have a necessity for air), and their eyes match their skin, so it is hard to tell where their eyes actually are. Their skin is translucent and bright. It is hard to look directly at them for if a human did, they might lose their mind. The brightness of their skin matched with being able to see what is inside is usually more than a human can handle. One would be able to see all the muscles moving, all the blood flowing, even the thoughts that these beings think. It is too much for anyone except others of their kind. Their limbs are lanky and the only way to fit into most human body suits is for them to shower in cold water. Cold water makes their skin shrink; hot water makes it expand to it’s normal length.
Harry and Sally laugh, their voices much deeper now that the human façade is gone. “Finally… it is time. I am sick of these wretched humans and their skin. I hate having to wear it.” No words come out of their “mouths”, everything spoken in their minds. This is how they communicate.
“Oh Harry…” Harry growled. “I’m sorry… I mean Quardnot… it’s not that bad! And some of these humans are nice…”
“You are starting to sound more human every day, Scuaguat.” Quardnot growled again and Scuaguat backed away from him.
“How dare you say that… don’t you ever… I have been waiting for this too…” They look at each other; ready for the old argument to start when they hear the front door open and close. “Josh.” They say together.
They walk downstairs, the argument forgotten, to greet their son and prepare him for the night’s glory. They stop short; Josh has brought a friend. They all watch as Josh’s friend takes one look at the brightly lit beings, his eyes roll back and they see the whites, and then they watch him slump to the floor. “Guys! Why don’t you have your human suits on?” Josh yells at them, not using his mind to add more emphasis to his point.
“What are you doing bringing a friend home without telling us, young man?” Quardnot yelling right back at Josh. “You should always call when you are bringing someone over. It’s not fair to your mother or I!” Scuaguat throws up her hands and walks toward Josh’s friend.
“Your father is right! You can’t keep doing this to us! Now what are we going to do with him?” She picks him up and throws him over her shoulder as if he weighs nothing. “As your parents, we have a right to know if someone is coming over!”
“Ugh! I am an adult! I shouldn’t have to tell you everything! And we are getting ready to take over this neighborhood anyways, so I didn’t think it mattered! He was a huge ass to me at school today and I was sick of it and everything human. I was going to make him my slave and make him help us, so I don’t care what you do with him… geez…” Quardnot and Scuaguat look at each other and sigh.

“Well… not a bad idea actually. The more the merrier! Just next time, tell us of your plan, please? That way we can work it out together! Now hurry up and shower. Take that disgusting body suit off and we can get this party started.” Josh rolls his eyes at his dad’s use of the human phrase ‘get this party started’ and heads upstairs. Josh can’t wait until he is on his own and can take over his own neighborhood.

story number 2

I didn't want one post to be super long, so here is the second story I was talking about! =)

Enjoy!

                                                     Inner Tube
A man slips into a swimming pool unnoticed and moves towards a woman floating on an inner tube in the deep end. They were the only two in the pool and this was finally his chance. He had been watching her for weeks now and he was obsessed with her. So obsessed that he knew he had to kill her. His balcony overlooked the pool and every night she was there, sitting on her inner tube, a cigarette dangling from her hand, the ashes falling into the cool water. She was beautiful, no doubt, but that wasn’t what he noticed about her. He noticed her because she didn’t notice him. Every night he watched her, his own cigarette the only light on his balcony and she never saw him. She was oblivious to every thing around her, her main focus the water. He stopped swimming and just stared. He had never been this close to her before and he could smell her cigarette. He savored in that smell, realizing that they smoked the same brand. Maybe they could be friends. He shook his head violently, getting the thought out. No one was ever his friend. No one ever liked him and no one ever would, just like his dad had told him so many times when he was young.
The young girl suddenly gasps and he comes back from his thoughts about his childhood and sees that she finally actually notices him; he had taken too long.  “Oh… hello… I didn’t know anyone else enjoyed the pool as much as I did.” Her voice came out just like he thought it would, low and sultry. The kind of voice anyone would want to talk to.
“Oh… well maybe not as much as you, but I like a dip every now and then.” He smiles at her and she seems to cringe away from it. His smile falters. He had smiled too big and scared her. He had to be careful if he was still going to get his chance tonight.
“Well… it’s good to meet a neighbor finally. I have been here for a couple of weeks now and haven’t really met anyone yet. Work keeps me so busy that I normally…” She rattles on, sounding nervous. He realizes that he is still smiling. He loses the smile and continues to nod, though his thoughts are on how he is going to kill her and not what she is saying. He always wondered why people rambled when they were nervous. Maybe they thought to annoy the other person into leaving them alone. His thoughts went back to his dad. He knew his dad would be proud of him for this one. His dad was always proud when he brought a girl home, but this one… this one was beautiful. They were usually plain girls that no one noticed, just like no one noticed him, but now he was going to get a beauty. His dad told him he would never get a beautiful girl. This will show him. He came back to the present abruptly; she gave him a strange look and was starting to swim away. His smile must have returned.
“I… uh… I am just going to stay in the deep end over there. I won’t bother you with my talk anymore. Have a nice night.” That was her polite but hasty way in saying goodbye to him. He stayed where he was and watched her float away, the smoke creating a design in the sky. He swam in the opposite direction, making his way to the shallow end and keeping his distance, making her think she was safe. He knew they could never be friends. Someone like her would never be friends with someone like him. He turned around to watch her again but jumps when he sees she is gone. Even her inner tube is gone, no longer floating in the deep end. He hadn’t even heard her get out of the pool. He looks around but doesn’t see her anywhere, he doesn’t\’t even see the light from her cigarette. “Well… there goes my chance. I will have to wait for another night.” Since he was already there, he decides he may as well enjoy some time in the spa.
He steps into the spa, immediately enjoying the hot water. He submerges his whole body, the water covering everything up to his chin. The jets are on full blast and he forgets everything else around him. His mind starts to wander; back to the first girl he brought home to his dad. His dad had been so proud that he had wanted to continue the family business. “Look dad! My first girl!” He had found her wondering the street, lost, and he had offered to help. At that time, he had been able to better hide his smile and she had not suspected anything. He had brought her back to his house, offering his phone so she could call a cab. As she was on the phone, he had picked up the first tool he could find, a screwdriver. When she had turned around to ask him for his address, he had stabbed her in the eye. The red that came pouring out of her eye was gorgeous. So gorgeous that he had dreamed about it and knew he could never stop.
His reverie is so deep and the jets so loud that he doesn’t hear her walk up behind him. His focus is on his thoughts and the smile is back on his face. The smile remains even as the cold rubber of the deflated inner tube is placed around his neck. The smile remains as she slowly tightens the inner tube around his neck and starts to squeeze. The smile remains as the life slowly leaves him. He doesn’t even struggle and his last thought is, “Dad is going to be so disappointed.”
She keeps the inner tube tight for a long time, making sure it’s over.
“When you want to kill someone, you should really do it before they notice you.” She says to him out loud, her face in a grimace as she notices the smile on his face. “God you are creepy… but handsome… mom is going to be so proud of me when I bring you home…”
